Hi, Yes I was one of those with high idle speed. If I disconnected the Solenoid whilst the engine was running and then reconnected it again, the idle would come down to normal. I put a meter on the wires coming from the switch and it was only operating at full throttle and not at closed throttle.( I did not realise until now that the full throttle and the closed throttle switch was one of the same.) After removing the throttle body, I discovered that the piece of metal of the switch which rides against the cam had worn through and was held on by literally a hair of metal. I managed to drop a blob a braising into the inner arc of the metal to make it (almost) as good as new. If everything is quiet, you can actually hear the switch operating in closed and fully open position.(An easy way to check if you do not have a meter) My fast Ile in now fixed. Hey that was easier than I thought. Cheers Jimmy Sanby Cape Town, South Africa '89 Syncro 15" |
