Many car factorers use this procedure to save money, then they can use the same part for both sides, saving money during production, making the cars cheaper. Although it is not used as much in today's production, it was quite common only a few years back, just look at a bug, or square or even a Rabbit, most glass are interchangeable from side to side, as long as it is not curved in shape.
