Well I can hardly contain my excitement, I finally got my hands on the deal of a lifetime. A 85 Vanagon GL with all the trimmings. This baby is in great shape. I really want to keep it this way. Of course the problem is I live in Ottawa, Ontario, probably one of the most heavily salted areas in North America!! Can anyone out there recommend what kinds of things I should look into as 'preventive measures'. I am not just talking about salt, I mean all I can really do about that is get the underside rust treated and keep clean all winter. I am more concerned with the westy components, draining the water pipes properly, what to do about that flu vent (no cover!!). Basically, I got a call out of the blue saying that this vehicle was availible (for $2500 CDN!!!!!!) So even though I am completely broke I just couldn't say no. Well any help would be appreciated. I feel like I have just joined the best family in the world!! Happy trails all!!! Jon Whittington jkstraw@magma.ca |
