OK, quick question, the thermostat manifold on the drivers side head of my '87 is predictable cracked (the manifold with the sensors and such not the thermostat cover,) I had heat weld repaired it previously but just swapped the heads again (don't ask) and it did not make it through the second time. It became apparent over the summer when I did Pat H's heads that the Syncro features a trendy indestructable aluminum casting for this part unlike the plastic (can we say "it cracks") part on regular vans. Now looking at the dealer the plastic one is $40, the aluminum is $200, but I'm not to be easily disuaded, hell I might find one used BUT.... Will the aluminum part fit and work on a regular van with an auto tranny cooler (one of whose pipes at least goes into that manifold?) This just occured to me as a syncro van was by defenition never an auto, and I don't recall from Pats how many fittings the part had and exactly where they all pointed (it also occurs to me that the syncro might use a steel rear coolant cross pipe that the regular van does not.) The picture in the fiche does not really help. Anyway enquiring mind want to know from anyone who might. John janderson@iolinc.net |
