Sometimes it is the simplest thing. . .start with easy things. Fuel filter? Fuel pressure regulator? Catalytic converter plugged? (a chunk of the innards lodged sideways once, took me days to find this out)

All of these things have caused the same problem in my van(s). Humans always have the tendency to imagine the worst, and hungry mechanics will not disagree with you. Hope your problem turns out to be something simple and cheap. . .
