nope. it's the speedometer. there is a little sensor that IS in the speedo head on models with cruise control (on the non-cruise models, there is a plastic plug in this position).

there's an extra wire (blue/white??) going into the back of the speedo ... you should be able to see it without taking the speedo out (but to check the gizmo, you'll have to take the pod apart and take the speedo head out of the pod). good luck!
