Subject: Idle Speed Adjustment - Again!!
Comments: To: Vanagon <Vanagon@VANAGON.COM>

-- [ From: John H. Rodgers * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] --

After I went through that learning curve and reset my idle speed per the Bentley, the engine idles just right. On startup, cold or warm, it comes to idle around 900 in just a few seconds. After driving and the engine is at temperature and I stop at a light or something, it idles right down to 900 in a second or two. Can't complain about this part of the spectrum of performance.

However, since the idle adjustment, after a cold start and before a thorough warmup, the engine is balky when I press on the gas pedal, sort of like a carburetor type when the choke is not adjusted properly for a cold morning, and the accelerator pump doesn't want to give enough juice to make for smooth acceleration. Forces you rapidly pat the pedal to get engine speed out of that very low rpm range. I didn't think this fuel injection system (Digifant) would do that. I thought FI with its sophisticated electronic controls eliminated this particular problem.

Suggestions or thoughts, anyone?
