<< Okay, the archives say use 185R14 Reinforced tyres. I use 27-8.50-14 LT tyres. Now what do we use for when the roads are white? M+S rated, studded. Search on Continentals and Dunlops sites reveal NOTHING!

Any ideas?

Jim in Union, OR where the first snow is about a month away. >> Absolutely the best snow and ice tires available for any car or van are the Bridgestone Blizzaks. I've been using them on my quattro and vanagon syncro for 5 years now. These tires grab like you wouldn't believe. On hard compact snow and ice you can safely do the speed limit or higher. People look at me as if I'm nuts, but when you have the right car and the right tires, you can drive with these tires anywhere. Rednecks with their Bronco's and Exploders don't like it when I blown them away or pull them out of ditches. All they say is "Hot damn, holly sh**t, what kind of car is that"? I say it's my German sled or snowmobile. I then drive away while the snow is up to my door handles and going over my hood (in my Audi Quattro, in fresh snow). The syncro does awesome also. There are new Blizzak availabe call something like MZ 2 or something, stick with the old style, MT 15 or something like that. Call the Tire Rack for more info: 1-888-375-8473 Michael, WA 87 quattro 87 syncro PS. I don't like white trash rednecks!
