After the left outer rear cv started knocking last wednesday, my weekend fun was clear. Repacking the joints with grease is a fairly easy job, but that is not where the fun was. When removing the axle from the car, I noticed that one of the bolts on the outer cv had its head broken off. With my Dremel Multitool, I managed to grind two sides of the bolt, so I could twist it out with a pliers, only to see that the bolt was broken halfway down the threads too, leaving one part deep into the hub. So I think I will have to remove the hub to get it out. Any tips would be great, as I don't have any Bentley or Haynes to guide me. Will this be possible without ruining the bearing? Anyone done this before? How much torque to the 46 mm axle nut? Please let me know. TIA PerL 88 Syncro |
