Apparently I screwed up in my recollection of the Westy Weight. Blush. Perhaps 4900 pound was what I once figured my diesel Westy weighted with all the fluid tanks filled and my traveling equipment aboard. I'm not sure. But I do know that the reality of the way many Westy's are used is that they are often overloaded compared to the original ratings. This reminds me of some ot the Toyota mini truck based motorhomes. Some of them couldn't get 4 typical adults aboard with full tanks without being loaded beyond their manufacturer's ratings. I submit that families vacationing in Westys commonly carry enough weight to take them over their suggested maximum weight ratings. For those situations, I suspect the LT truck tires with their reinforced sidewalls give better control and are safer. But we already know that I can be wrong. LOL John |
