Hi, Suzanne, just a little tip: try to disconnect the wires at the switch, and put a piece of wire or a paper clip between the connectors, turn the ignition on, and go back and see, if they are lighted, the switch is probably gone, it can also be stained at the connectors. If not, the switch could still be gone, you could test it with a multimeter, see if they make contact over the connections when you press the brakepedals. I would also check out the bulbs anyway, as funny things really do happen, and check the rear lights with both taillights, turnsignals and reverse lights on at the same time. If you have a real set of disco lights at the rear end at this point, it is because of a faulty ground connection. If you have to replace the switch, you have to drain some of the brake fluid, and bleed the system afterwards.
