After getting my Westy... I filled it to the top... pushed in the tip
meter...and my logs show.. I drove 600km(375miles) until I ran out (I had an
extra can on top to fill up with) I did this on purpose because all my
previous campers had weird reading gas gauges and I wanted to know the truth
(you know what I mean Muldar?) Well the truth is... it doesn't read fully
full....just about touching the full line on the meter, when it's
overflowing out back. and also when it reached the red reserve section....
it went 200km(125miles) farther. I just did a fall tour of friends & old
haunts (there's that Halloween stuff again) and I kept the logs up to date
(do you guys do logs? you know like on boats & planes...maintenance & trip
logs) and the logs say...after getting a minor tune-up before my trip.... I
averaged 8.54 km per liter....(what the heck does that mean?) I shall
translate.... on average 20.8 mpg... now lets get personal....(we're talking
driving habits here) this last trip was fantastic... hardly NO body on the
roads I traveled... I regularly found myself in the middle of the road only
doing 80kmh(50mph) and not having to worry about anything other than deer,
bears & moose..... I stopped often...Like watching 24 sandhill cranes for a
few hours....Or IOW.. I was in now hurry and drove like a bloody
tourist.....WHY Look at that... In general... Things were looking good... Oh
yea... my logs to my 78 Westy 2000cc air-cooled FI... show an average of
24mpg on the main roads......What's that?... something is screaming
outside...Must be Count Floyd.... .... ..... ..... .... .... :^)
