My '72 westy may not have been as good as the later 'loafs, but for me, there is no comparison. The '72 was hot in the summer and cold in the winter, all over the road in a crosswind, dangerous in a panic stop, noisy, and could only do 25 up a 6% grade (OK, I think it needed new carbs). I'll take my '84 vanagon over the '72 any day.

Bill
