As may be noted by my signature lines, I am also curious about Listee's locations. For me, it is a mental key to help remember people's names and situations. Additionally, I love geography and find it interesting to explore tangential facets such as who lives where.

It may also come in handy when I am traveling and want some VW help or companionship. It seems to me that this List is truly a virtual community, which can easily become a physical community as we get a chance to visit with one another. (Why else do many of us attend various VW campouts and other get-togethers?)

Personally, I am a life-long Minneapolis resident, with a penchant for travel by car, or more appropriately now, by Vanagon. Many moons ago, my lovely bride and I took a 48 state honeymoon, even though I had already visited all lower 48 at least once. Since then, there have been many East Coast and West Coast driving trips, along with a few down South. Our three boys learned to play the license plate game long before they knew of the existence of beverage carts and super saver fares.

These drives all occured in a succession of Volvos (1969, 1978, and 1984), prior to my midlife conversion to the charms of Vanagons. BTW, various family members still drive our venerated 78 and trusty 84 Volvos.

The two newest states have been on the back burner for some time, with an Alaska jaunt not too far off (how many times have I thought that!) now that we finally have a most appropriate vehicle for such an undertaking.

Back to List geography, may I suggest that hometowns or some other appropriate geographic description be added to signature lines. Of course, this would be completely voluntary, as I am sure there are some who appreciate the anonymity of the virtual world.

For those of you who are not residents of IN or AZ, what are you doing with your extra hour tonight? Obviously, my choice is to try and catch up on some of the 1485 unread messages still waiting in my mailbox. Happy Standard Time to everyone!
