I'm no expert but I've had a few gas aux. heaters and they are not that mysterious..... only a few things to worry about...... make sure you don't smell any raw gas anywhere around it....if you do.... DO NOT turn it on(fix fuel line NOW).....But usually they will work... even really poorly....if it hasn't been used for a season... like any intake for a fuel burning system...do a critters and their bedding inspection first....86 all mice nest/seed stashes....turn the heater on and let it run, make sure the Blower (fan) is putting out air (if not STOP and fix).... smoke at first is normal, after 30 mins it should be better or try cleaning & regap the plug... if that doesn't work...face it .... it now needs an autopsy Call your local VW mortician/rehab center/guru and Happy Halloween Vangoblins.....
