I'm with Matt. It's the discourse both on and off topic that makes this list unique. I don't think censoring the content is going to improve things.

There are PLENTY of posts both on and off topic that I have no intrest in. I THEREFORE DELETE THEM. What is the big deal? I dont' need to be informed that a topic is off, I can READ the subject line. Besides, usually if the topic is off, the poster writes "no van content".

And if you CAN'T tell from a Subject that it's off topic, and not of interest to you, I suggest the problem is not with the list.

Adding "Off Topic" is just an annoyance, and probably useless at the end of a Subject header. If it was the first words of the Sub Line, then it might at least be easier to spot (or filter).

Finally, to me, this list is not JUST for technical VAnagon posts. It's for people with a shared intrest (passion/addiction) to interact and communicate! Why limit it?

It ain't broke.

James
