Subject: installing new clutch slave cylinder

I went out to my van after work one day and there was clutch fluid all over the place and hence, no pressure with the clutch. I took a look below and discovered the leak coming from the slave cylinder. Actually, the only part that was oily was the rubber boot, but a mechanic told me I needed to replace the whole cylinder. I am guessing this is true and I don't really feel like rebuilding the cylinder (unless someone tells me it is easy). So, I am going to buy a new slave cylinder and put it in. Does anyone have experience with this? I think it seems pretty straight forward, except that I have never done it before and I have never bled the clutch before. Any hints would be appreciated. I have a 1985 Vanagon, 4 speed. It has over 200K miles on it but is running strong.

(If anyone has done a slave cylinder rebuild, I would be interested in hearing about it.)
