Subject: '67 Type2 question
Comments: To: vanagon@VANAGON.COM

A friend of mine has just purchased a 67 Kombi and we are puzzled about a peculiar "gizzmo" between the inlet manifold and the carb. It seems to have two purposes in life: 1. To act as a 50mm spacer to lift the carb in height. 2. This is why I am asking..... It is made out of the same material as the carb. attached to the spacer is a vertical container about 20mm thick, +/- 70mm wide and +/-100mm high. There is a plate covering the container. It has no wires or pipes attached but it does have a lead seal with a VW stamp on it holding the plate in place..

Any ideas?

Thanks
