I think I'll get all of my fuel lines replaced now. Especially since, while my van was on the lift at the tire store, I took the opportunity to sniff around at why I always smell gas when I fuel up. You know the plastic portion of the lines that go to the plastic expansion tanks? I slightly squeezed one to check its pliability. It snapped like a dry twig, and a 2cm chunk fell out along with a few drops of gas. This is a non-pressurized line, that is from a 1990! I too would rather spend money up front, then be stranded on the side of the road.
