I'm originally from Oklahoma and can verify that!

What we were told as to why there were so many Armadillos found kilt in the road is that as a defensive mechanism when they are scared they will jump up into the air. So, when you're bearing down on them and they pee their pants they try to escape by jumping. Unfortunately this is detrimental to their well being as most of the time you could slide one under the front axle without touching but since they jump they tend to find the front bumper all by themselves. During the summer months the state highway between Sand Springs and Stillwater (OSU) was strewn with enough Armies to make enough boots to shod most small western towns.

As for VW content- I can say that I never hit one while driving a Vanagon! (I was driving a Beetle at the time) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Todd Hill VolksWerks Transaxles Olympia, WA (No Armadillo sightings up here)
