I don't know how different it is for a non camper Vanagon but I find it very difficult to believe that any Westy consistently gets 25 mpg (9.4 l/100km), unless it is being towed or is on the back of a flat bed truck. Like Jim Thompson, I track my gas mileage religiously and my best mileage ever, ever, ever was around 23 mpg (10.2 l/100km). This summer I averaged 20 mpg (11.75 l/100km) but did a great deal of highway driving. For lots of lead footed city driving my mileage goes to 17 mpg (14.0 l/100km). For those
