Actually.. it's still very much in use...but what it means in Ojibway... is
sort of a portable kitchen or food box..... many folks who do serious
canoeing, on Lake Superior, and other more northern areas still use homemade
ones...if anyone is interested they could look in my old friend Bill Mason's
book... "Song of the Paddle"  page 64-65 and see how he made and used
his...many native guides in the north still use them... and haul them up
into the trees at night, so the bears won't eat their supplies.
