Here's an answer to my own question.

I really don't want to fix the sliding window security breach on my van, because I like the idea of being able to "steal" my own van using only a pocket knife.

I like the idea of starter kills, but I have what I think might be a better concept. We need a hidden switch that would kill the ignition coil or something. Then we need to lobby Darrel Broehler to design a simple little timed circuit that would allow the van to run for 10 seconds or so if this switch wasn't pressed. This way the thief drives away only to have the van stall out on him with a puff of smoke. He'll think the van's a piece of crap and leave it. Your insurance company will consider the van stolen since it was moved. I guess it's benifitual to have your vehicle actually moved by a thief than just broken into.
