Chris, I really doubt that this guy is making any kind of bellhousing for the autotranny. He is probably just buying or making an adapter plate that allows you to mate the autotrans up to the 5-cylinder motor. There really is no bellhousing for the autotrans. What would normally be the bellhousing and the differential section of the manual trans is all one piece on the autotranny. I talked to VW of SA the other day and they said that they had done a test study on putting an automatic transmission in thier Caravelles (Vanagons for us Americans) and they discontinued the idea for some reason.
