David, some time ago, we broke the top one and a half turns from the top of the left rear spring on our syncro Westfalia. To get by until we could find a replacement, I inserted a shim on top of the top spring plate. I had some 5/8 inch thick nylon sheeting so we used that. Could you not effectively raise your syncro by inserting shims on top of your springs. The spring constant would stay the same and the springs would be compressed by the same amount. Only the shock absorbers and half shafts would ride a bit high.
