Oil Drain Plug Stripped-EEs, Search the archives on this problem. I did on my strip-out and went to my local FLAPS and purchased the STD thread (was it 5/8's, don't remember for sure) oversize kit based upon taking my old drain plug in with me and eyeballing the oversized-ness of the kit against the original metric thread. The metric to std is no biggie, the old aluminum threads are GONE. I purchased the kit that has the inner plug inside the big plug so now when I drain oil, it is steel against steel on my threads. The kit worked perfectly as advertised, it is self tapping and after removing the outer self tapping plug the last to remove the cut threads, pour about 5 qts cheap oil in to flush out any extraneous cut threads in the bottom of the pan, apply teflon tape to the outer plug and voila, you are done. No runs, no drips no errrors and all for $4.00 US. I did this on the tip that this is standard industry fare at the quickie oil changer places that routinely strip out numerous drain plugs daily at the busy locations.
