Thank you all for responding to my posted alternator barcket problem. I took
my van to the nearest local dealer to replace the bracket. The repairment
was done free of charge since the mechanics there could not find anything
wrong with my van and had to blame the bad quality of the bracket which was
under warrantee. Before they started the work, they did mention some
possibilities such as loose bolts that hold the alternator, but apparantly
it wasn't the cause. However, I still suspect that something must be wrong
with my van. In my earlier post, I forgot to mention that I experienced a
broken steering belt at 70K. That belt was replaced at the same time when
the bracket was replaced at 60K.  I would like to check the alignment of the
pulleys and bearings of alternator myself. Do I have to remove the belts in
order to do that? And what kind of sign(s) should I look for? (You can tell,
how good I am about mechanics.)
