I don't think VW has ever used a torx style bolt head for CV joints. Some models use allen heads, others use 12 point internal heads. The pattern actually matches a 12pt 8mm box wrench. The tool used for them is called a triple square or serrated wrench. Don't mean to nit-pick, just didn't want an inexperienced owner to put a torx in their drive axle bolts and round 'em out.
