There is a way (documented in the archives somewhere) to remove the waterboxer heads (with cylinder sleeves still attached), while leaving the pistons attached to the engine. Its actually possible to put it all back together after doing this! I think I still have the (grease stained) printout of this procedure if anyone has trouble finding it in the archives.
