Well... as usual I think it's a little more complicated than that.

My motor has gone 155K miles and I'm rebuilding it soon. However, it runs ok and I could keep it patched together for another 50K or more, but I'm not sure I'd like how it would run.

Other info would need to go along with the mileage.

O = Original R = Rebuild Compression: 1-2-3-4

Obviously this could get pretty complex. We'd need to stick to motors that haven't had partial rebuilds.

Pretty impressive Darrell. This makes me wonder ~~

What is the most miles any Westy motor has gone before scraping or being pulled for rebuild? For rebuilt motors, count from milage when it was rebuilt. That puts all original motors and rebuilds on an equal basis. If you report about a candidate, please say if it was air cooled, water cooled gasser or diesel. With the wealth of VW experience among the List, this should be interesting. John
