FYI, i own the smaller one. I did not permanently install it but instead use it as a portable. The wiring and thermostat are installed. I just plug it in when i want to use it and unplug it and take it out of the van when i don't. The coldest i camped with just the small plat cat was 5 degrees F. at the base of the mountain at Teton Village in Wyoming. It wasn't toasty, but it was warm and comftorable enough. I found that the small one is fine for temps. around 20-30 degrees at night. i am posting this for those who might prefer to get the smaller one due to size limitations. several list members have done permanent installations of the larger model and are very happy with that set up. steve
