In some Canadian provinces it is illegal to transport an open container (partially consumed with the cap back on) anywhere in the vehicle, including the trunk. It is also illegal in some provinces to transport sealed alcohol containers anywhere but in the trunk. Very draconian. On the other end of the scale I think in Texas you can drink and drive as long as you don't kill any cattle :-)
