Dear Chris,

Actually I spoke directly with Detlev. Perhaps he was considering that my van was a Syncro and therefore did not suggest lowering the engine to me. He even sent me pictures (taken out of the Winkler catalog) of how the engine sits "only" 3cm above the deck!!!

Anyway, it DOES make sense that 2wd Vanagons could lower the engine to fit, I'm just not sure if it also applies to Syncros.
