Hello Tom, I will have to trade in my old motor. The core charge is quite steep $1100.00. It seems VW really wants the core back. I would like to keep it and rebuild it myself when I had the time. I was told by AVP that they use reconditioned cam, rods and crank, and I think even pistons. VW uses all new internals. They both use reconditioned heads. Although I think VW uses new heads more often if reconditioned heads are not available.

There is quite a wait on the engine. Seems that there is a shortage of 2.1 motors. The factory can't build them fast enough. I have a two to six week wait. I almost went back to AVP when I found out how long it will take to get my motor. Oh well, hopefully it will be a good motor. I think my old motor would have gone even farther. I got careless and let the oil level get low, about two quarts. I lost oil pressure going around an on ramp. Seems the oil pump lost its prime and would'nt hold pressure. It would start to pump up and then fall. I tried to make it to a gas station that was close. Needless to say I did'nt make it. Spun a bearing.

Take care and happy vanning. Colin Moran '86 Syncro GL Beebe AR -----Original Message----- From: Tommie Ray <tommieray@juno.com> To: cmoran@CSWNET.COM <cmoran@CSWNET.COM> Date: Friday, November 06, 1998 7:12 AM Subject: Re: New Motor '86 Syncro
