Hi: I had about the same problem with my '86. The original threads stripped out then they put helicoils in and I guess they got damaged. Wen I got the vehicle it was seeping oil from the plug. My solution was to get a plug from a type one oil bypass valve. I got a tap that matched and rethreaded the case for the new plug. It uses a aluminum sealing ring that works great. The only thing is that the plug has a screwdriver slot instead of a six point head. I was always going to solve that by either welding a nut on the plug or drilling a hole through the plug and tapping it and screwing a bolt into it. I was thinking if I went all the way through the plug I could weld the end of the bolt to the plug. Check it out, it looks like the plug is made for the application. -- Todd Francis Ridgefield, Washington USA '86 Westy Syncro '91 Tristar
