Subject: Sinky Smell from vents.

Has anyone else experienced a rotten stink coming from the front vent system? It is not a coolant/anti freeze smell. It is more like a raunchy dead something smell. It has a bit of stinky rubber smell to it so I'm thinking that one of the directional vents is rotting away.

This occurs when I turn on the front heater and the air is circulating through the ducts. I had noticed this during the summer but now that its cold and I want heat, it's REALLY obvious.

Has anyone else experienced this VW phenomena? What could be a remedy? Strip and gut the entire vent and heater ducts and clean it out?
