I don't think you are off topic at all. Often times I'd like to think if I
were in another part of the country, I could have a "dealership first" mind
for service, whether it be for our Jetta TD, our van, or some other family
or friend's car.

You have given us reason to question the quality and integrity of one of
VW's dealers, and possibly saved money and heartache in the process.
