I cannot seem to get the circlip seated in the groove as the dished washer does not seem to allow the joint to give the circlip enough clearance. I have tried the only two things I thought of - attempting to pound/seat one edge of the circlip with a drift and mallet and to squeeze the hopefully partially seated circlip into place. Needless to say, this combination did not work. Any advice is most appreciated as otherwise, I am off to the local shop so they can press the hub down and pop the little sucker into place. While this is actually for my Golf, it is just a warm up for when I repack the front syncro joints in a couple weeks (the Bentley's show the dished washer used in both joints, so I expect I will hit this problem again)... dave >> This is really simple to seat, with the driveshaft in a vise, circlip on, find a socket that is slightly larger than splines on the shaft, place the socket over the circlip, give the socket a good whack with a hammer. By doing this, you will momentarily compress the spring washer on the other side of the joint alowing the circlip fall into place. Good luck. Let me know how it went.
