While i was down at volks cafe in santa cruz yesterday, Kyle stopped by in a EuroSpec conversion vanagon. Kyle just left VoksCafe/Motorsports to work with EuroSpec. ... or something to that effect ... (ask Kyle). Anyway...he insisted i take a drive ... and offered to help me with the return of my rental car ... so i followed him to the rental place ... Pulling out of the shop, he punched it and actually squealed rubber shifting into second ... seemed pretty quick on acceleration. Unfortunately, the traffic was heavy on the trip back when i was driving, so I never got out of second gear, but there is no doubt that the motor is significantly more powerful than the wasserboxer. The installation is really clean ... much less stuff in the engine compartment...and everything is really accessible. the engine is mounted at an angle so that it fits without modification of the compartment/lid. There is an adapter plate at the bell housing. The engines are brand new in-line 4 cyl. vw. They had an extra one on a pallet inside the shop. Kyle also had the SA grill with round lights mounted on the van...looked good! steve |
