Does anyone have any info on or experience with portable wind generators? I checked out those available through Mr. Solar's web site ...Bill posted the url for the low plat cat price. It looks like the Rutland WG 913 is the one they would reccomend...at $1013.00. ouch. If i can get one ... or build one ... for around $500 i'll go for it. Wind seems like it would be a much better source of power than sun for me. My heaviest power consumption is in the winter/spring/fall months when it is necessary to use the heater. The skys are typically more overcast and the wind more constant during the winter and there are fewer dyalight hours. a wind generator would charge all night as the heaters and lights are consuming the battery. as it is now, my single 1.6 amp panel is not adequate in the winter...another panel would run about $300...and i'd rather invest in wind. any info appreciated. steve |
