I failed to notice the 14 month old publication date on the URL offering low
Platinim Cat prices before I forwarded it to the List. So I have written the
following note to Mr. Solar to learn if he is still willing to sell Platinum
Cats for those prices. He discounts heavily compared to MSRP on many things
he sells.

Re: Platinum Cat vented heater prices
Hi Mr. Solar (Charlie Collins) ,
I'm a subscriber to an I-net Mailing List called the Vanagon List which has
the central thematic topic of VW vans in their many forms. The last time I
checked, this mailing list goes to 732 addresses, some of which have multiple
readers.
As I'm sure you know, one of the VW van configurations was the Westfalia
camper model, commonly called the Westy by those who own and love them. Very
few of them were sold with an optional vented space heater suitable for safe
sleeping when the outside temperature drops. There are very few suitable
vented heaters List subscribers have encountered in their research. Platinum
Cat, Wallas, Webasto, Espa, and Carver (formerly sold under the Propex name),
and Suburban are the only ones I've encountered. The Platinum Cat seems to be
the most technologically elegant. I expect the electrical demand and the
noise it's powered vent produces is lower than the other systems, all of which
depend on forced air for heat distribution rather than a radiant panel. So
even though it can't be concealed as some others can, it appears to be a very
appealing alternative.
I used Yahoo to search for Catalytic heater information which brought me to
your URL
http://www.netins.net/showcase/solarcatalog/catalogue10.html
Since it was updated 8-28-97, I'm asking you if the price schedule you are
willing to sell the Platinum Cats is still current. Here's a copy from your
site:
Model BTU/H Power Price User Friendly Price Size in inches
LP/NG-5.6 5.6 115VAC $536.00 $400.00 28x12.5x5.5
LP-5.2 5.2 12VDC $414.00 $315.00 21x12x5.5
LP-3.0 3 12VDC $398.00 $300.00 14x12x5.5
I forwarded a copy of your URL and price schedule to all List members last
night before I realized that it was entered 14 months ago. Several List
members have been discussing installing heaters in their vans. Those who have
installed the Platinum Cat speak favorably about them.
Thank you for your consideration. You may respond to me directly at
LvLearn@mci2000.com or send your reply to the entire List by e-mailing your
response to:

All the best to you,
John ~~ Vanagon List subscriber and Westy owner
