When I worked as a sports car mech in the 1960's this was a common problem. We had a woman come in with an MGA that, according to her, ran fine for her but not for her husband. He found nothing wrong. A week later the husband comes in yelling that we don't know what we're doing. You guessed it. He had 5 pounds of keys hanging off the switch and every time he went around a corner the ignition shorted out. His wife, with 2 keys on a ring, had no problems. (And a while later a guy came in with the opposite story. The engine was all carboned up, but we could find no reason. A month later his wife came in, and we discovered the reason for the carbon: she drove with the choke out to have somewhere to hang her purse!)
