Greetings from freezing cold Klamath Falls, Oregon. I am seriously shopping for one the catalytic heaters that have been recently discussed on the list (plat-cat, Olympian). I have a few questions that hopefully some of you may help me with. 1. What size of heater do I need to keep my westfalia reasonably warm during a night of camping? Both Olympian and Plat-cat have two basic sizes, a 3000 and 6000 BTU model. Would the smaller 3000 BTU model sufficently heat a vanagon? 2. Where are listmembers installing these things? The only reasonable location I can think of is behind the passenger seat. The 6000 BTU models are approximately 20" high. How would this be possibly installed in a way which would allow the seat to swivel around to the rear facing position? Do some folks simply use them in a portable fashion? Thanks for any insight you may give me. Tom VandenBerg 1982 Westy Klamath Falls, Oregon |
