Subject: HEAD GASKET SURVEY HELP
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

As some of you will recall, we put together a head gasket survey form that Karl put on his website so we could collect data and have a list member statistician plot out the results of the survey. Thus far, we have over 260 responses (3 new ones today). This is a huge sample and will tell us a lot. We will be able to determine what % of gaskets never leak, the mileage when leakage usually occurs, the effect of different coolants and driving habits and other variable of gasket longevity and the longevity of various cures.

Since we started collecting the data, I've had a series of disasters that keep getting in the way of my job of preparing the data for the statistician so he can process it....including the death of my oldest and best friend, tranny failure, cv failure, and lots of work related stuff .... and now my mom was in a head on crash that almost killed her. She was in ICU for 2 weeks and in the hospital for 7 weeks, and just got out last week. My parents are in their 70's and I am going to be flying back to PA to help out as my mom still needs a knee replacement surgery and has a ways to go yet. Unfortunately this latest unforseen event on top of my schedule as a part time single dad to twins and a self-employed trial lawyer (I have 1 trial and 2 arbitrations between now and christmass) makes it all but impossible for me to find the time to get this done before the end of the year.

I am writing to ask if there is anyone out there who would be interested in taking over the job of processing the data and getting it ready for the statistician. It should not take more then 3 to 4 hours. I have all of the survey results printed out and ready to go. I can ship them out tomorrow. If there are no takers, I'll still do it, but when i can't say for sure. steve
