Marty,

I bough brand spanky new a 1984 Wolfburg Westfalia from a dealer in Provo Utah. I paid about $18K back then. I put 30K in less than a year. - NO Problemo

It was actually a 1/2 year model with the Wolfburg ensigna on front by the door. Here is what I recall that was different from the regular GL camper:

The most striking exterior difference was the two tone designer paint. It was coffee-cream with a slight tinge of pink, and dark brown. It also had the nice plastic wheel covers - a pain to clean.

Inside it had a beige brown plush velour interior with an additional 2 passenger seat in the middle that could be easily removed - with strength. There was additional carpeting - also beige brown VW really streched themselves and place a little light over the glove box - WHOA! It was the regular Westfalia camping interior. I think that it also got the power steering option which became a standard. It had Continental Reinforced tires that really didn't look like they would last too long and were really sh##@ty in the snow & hills of Utah.

I have fond memories and did numerous trips from Utah to Colorado, Nevada and California with it. I loved it. It was quite a switch from my previous 78 Westy camper with real heat. I put in a nice Alpine stereo to keep the beat on the long desert roads. Had to get rid of it for $12,000 when I went back to graduate school in Boston. I was so disgusted with the worthlesness and how quickly it depreciated.

But now I'm back on the road with a red Syncro Westy.

Cheers, Joel Cort 89 Syncro Westy "Cinnabar"
