They clip to the window frame.  It's a very functional design, but they will
not work in a non-Westy window, and are quite expensive ($49.95 each) for
the flimsy pieces of plastic that they are.  It's not worth trying to modify
them to work in a non-Westy at that price, in my opinion. Better to
fabricate something on your own. It doesn't seem it would be too difficult.
Home centers and the like sell screen window kits for home use that could be
used for this purpose.
