a further data point on AllData - at one point on my EVC web page I had a page which contained nothing but a listing of the Tech Bulletins available on the AllData Cd. Not the actual content, just a list of them, about 1 page I think. I got it by going to their Web site and running a query. Seemed innocuous enough, and when I posted it I fully credited them as the source, had a link to their page and everything. I thought they were a good source of material and I'd help them out.

Anyway, a few months later I got a "cease and desist" notice from them. Polite but firm if you know what I mean. Now, I thought that simple compilations of items such as this particular list of Bulletins wasn't a copyrightable entity, but I didn't feel like arguing with them about it so I took it down, plus I removed all the "free" links to their site, plus they annoyed me enough that I'm sending this out to all of you now!
