PerL, Looks like I'm really getting aged. It's a 5-valve/per cylinder (total 25 valves) VR5 (oh, V5) I saw on the VW German web page last year. So that information was incorrect then. I'd like to get the V5 instead of 1.8 turbo also for the reason of non-turbo reliability and timing chain. Unfortunately we won't be able to see it here in the US other than some nice pictures (an article on European Car magazine for a company imported a new German Golf GTI with 2.3 V5 engine and made it US legal)! Now if VWoA was willing to import the 24-valve 200hp VR6 Sharan "minivan" to US with competitive pricing...... :>) Yi-Ruey Wei 87 Vanagon GL Syncro w/78K miles 85 Jetta GLI w/169K miles Dallas, Texas > Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 00:18:21 -0800 > Reply-To: Per Lindgren <lindgre@ONLINE.NO> > Sender: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@vanagon.com> > From: Per Lindgren <lindgre@ONLINE.NO> > Subject: Re: VW VR5's (Was Re: VW V6 ?'s) > > If I'm doing my math right, if the VR5 had a 5-valve cyl-head, it would be 25 > valves totally, wouldn't it?
