Subject: Re: Strange Noise Fixed, I think
Comments: To: Vanagon <Vanagon@VANAGON.COM>

I tried something day before yesterday in hopes in fixing the grinding noise coming from my engine...In a last ditch effort, I added a product called CD-2 oil detergent. In added it to my oil the night before. The next morning, the noise was still there, so I drove the piss out of it (mainly because I was running late for work) and at lunch when I went to start the car my battery was dead (because I left the lights on and my battery was on its way out anyway). I jumped the van, and I suddenly noticed that there was no more noise from the motor. To boot, the motor runs better than it ever has. I'm just amazed!!!! I talked to my mechanic about this and he told me that he used to recommend C-2 oil detergent to his Vanagon customers that were having lifter problems. I don't know what to say other than the motor runs silent. It's amazing!! This product is available at most auto parts stores. I had nothing to lose because the motor already has over 100k miles on it. I figured that I'll drive it till it quits, but it looks as though I'm in the clear for now.
