Hello all-

We just got our used Vanagon, and are pretty poor mechanics to begin with. We're trying to fix some things ourselves, but have no idea what's up with a recent problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

We returned from a trip (no problems on the road), shut everything down and found two weeks later that we could not start the Vanagon. The engine does not turn over and we get no starter sound whatsoever. We cannot turn on anything electrical - no headlights, no small lights, nothing. Our first thought was that the battery had discharged, but our battery charger says it is fully charged. It is a relatively new battery (6 months, rarely used) and all connections are uncorroded and look very good at the battery end. I don't know if there is a 'main fuse' that we can check. As we have no powered items whatsoever, does it mean that some important electrical cable is loose or faulty?

Thanks very much for your help.

Ready to do what it takes, Sandy and Klaus
